Professor Jin Il Kim's research lab specializes in advanced materials and biomedical technologies, with a strong focus on energy storage systems and viral pathogenesis. The lab develops innovative gel-polymer electrolytes for sodium-ion batteries, emphasizing structural control and interfacial stability to overcome limitations of conventional separators. Concurrently, the lab investigates the molecular evolution and antigenic dynamics of influenza A viruses, particularly the role of hemagglutinin glycosylation in immune evasion and viral persistence. These interdisciplinary efforts bridge materials science and virology, aiming to design next-generation energy materials and understand viral adaptation mechanisms.
