Professor Jun Sung Lee's research lab focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Parkinson’s disease and synucleinopathies, with a strong emphasis on lysosomal dysfunction and protein homeostasis. The lab investigates the role of lysosomal enzymes such as arylsulfatase A (ARSA) in regulating α-synuclein aggregation and propagation, revealing novel links between lysosomal storage disorders and neurodegeneration. Additionally, the lab explores signaling pathways involving phospholipase D (PLD) and its regulatory domains in cellular trafficking and receptor endocytosis, particularly in the context of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) regulation. The integration of cell biology, neurodegeneration, and signal transduction defines the lab’s interdisciplinary approach to identifying therapeutic targets for neurodegenerative diseases.

Our findings demonstrate that approximately half of patients with PE possess DVT. However, this study failed to establish any clinical significance of concomitant DVT for PE-related unfavorable outcome and all-cause mortality. Tachycardia and hypoxemia were identified as significant predictors for PE-related unfavorable outcome along with active malignancy and hypotension or shock as significant risk factors of all-cause mortality.
