井上潤一教授の研究室では、上皮細胞の極性形成と細胞接着機構、特にタイトジャンクション(TJ)の分子機構に注目し、細胞間バリア機能の維持とその制御メカニズムを解明しています。特に、三細胞接合部(tricellular tight junction)に特異的に局在する膜タンパク質「トライセルリン」の機能や、Parタンパク質複合体やRac1・Arf6シグナルによる接着接着の成立過程の制御を分子細胞生物学的手法で解明しています。また、上皮間胚様移動(EMT)における転写因子SnailとTJタンパク質の関係や、膜リモデリングがTJ形成に与える影響についても研究を展開しています。
