Muto教授の研究室は、公衆衛生と社会的行動の関係に注目し、特に感染症対策における個人の行動変容や、遺伝的差別のに関する社会的認識の変遷を、大規模なアンケート調査を基に分析しています。特に、政府の自主的協力要請に応じた市民の行動変化のタイミングや要因を、日本におけるCOVID-19対応を事例に解明しています。また、遺伝情報に基づく差別の問題に対しては、一般世帯を対象とした長期的アンケート調査を通じて、意識の変化と法的対策の必要性を探っています。
