福島清治教授の研究室は、非結核性アリューミン菌(NTM)肺疾患をはじめとする呼吸器感染症の病態解明と治療戦略の確立を主眼としています。特に、MAC肺疾患における標準的・代替的投薬療法の長期的成績や、喀痰培養陽転、気腫性肺胞症(CPA)の発症リスク、手術的アプローチの有効性について、臨床的・分子的アプローチを統合した研究を推進しています。近年では、急速な遺伝子解析技術(MinIONを用いたMGITシーケンシング)を活用し、病原体のサブタイプ同定と耐性状態の迅速把握を目指した革新的な診断プロトコルの構築にも取り組んでいます。

Standardized intensive multidrug treatment reduces disease progression and persistence in progressive MAC-PD. Cavitary NB may differ from, rather than being just an advanced stage of, non-cavitary NB.
