山本耕一教授の研究室は、心血管系の制御メカニズム、特にレニン-アンジオテンシン系(RAS)の新たな機能とその疾患への関与を解明することを主眼としています。特にACE2の機能や、アンジオテンシンIIからアンジオテンシン1-7に変換するプロセスが心機能や代謝制御に与える影響を、遺伝子欠損マウスを用いた実験的アプローチで解明しています。また、老化に伴う血栓症のメカニズムや、脂肪細胞由来のアディポネクチンが炎症性腸疾患に与える影響についても、分子・細胞生物学的手法を用いて研究を展開しています。
