Kwang Seon Shin 교수의 연구실은 마그네슘 및 그 합금의 부식 거동과 미세구조 간의 상관관계를 심층적으로 연구하며, 특히 결정립 크기, 상분율, Volta 전위 차이 등의 미세구조적 인자들이 부식 속도에 미치는 정량적 영향을 분석합니다. 이를 바탕으로 부식 예측 모델을 수립하고, 내구성 향상을 위한 합금 설계 및 가공 기술 개발에도 주력하고 있습니다. 최근에는 고속 압연 가능한 Mg-Bi 기반 합금과 {10–12} 탄성 변형을 활용한 기계적 성질 향상 기법에 대한 연구도 진행 중입니다.

The effects of different elements including Al, Sn and Zn with ability of solution hardening on corrosion behavior of a Mg alloy have been studied.
