Professor Kwangmin Kim's research lab focuses on translational biomedical research with a strong emphasis on colorectal cancer heterogeneity, particularly the biological and clinical distinctions between right and left colon cancers. The lab investigates molecular mechanisms, including epigenetic alterations like CpG island methylator phenotype and chromosomal instability, as well as the role of gut microbiota in tumor progression. Additionally, the lab develops advanced image analysis tools for neuroscience applications, such as the Neuron Image Analyzer (NIA), to improve the quantification of neuronal morphology in low signal-to-noise ratio images. The lab also explores metabolic biomarkers, such as gamma-glutamyltransferase and uric acid, in predicting diabetes risk, reflecting a broad interest in clinical biomarker discovery and precision medicine.

This paper presents a design of a 35 T 40 mm winding diameter no-insulation standalone magnet that consists of a stack of 52 double pancake (DP) coils wound with multi-width REBCO tapes. The inner and outer diameters and height of the magnet are 40 mm, 221.6 mm, and 628 mm, respectively. It is designed to generate 35 T at an operating current (I op) of 179.8 A in a bath of liquid helium at 4.2 K. Gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT) and uric acid (UA) are novel diabetes risk factors. However, little is known about the combined effects of GGT and UA on the development of diabetes. Here, we assessed the combined effects of GGT and UA on the development of diabetes in a Korean population.We evaluated 1983 women and 2687 men without diabetes. From the baseline health screening to the follow-up examination, the development of diabetes, based on changes in GGT and UA quartile levels, was analyzed.

This paper investigates the mechanical stresses of a toroidal-type superconducting magnet (TSM). The TSM is designed by 3D CAD program.
