Severe dissection was found in 42% of cases after PTA. A small vessel diameter and/or TASC II C/D lesions were related to a high incidence of dissection. Severe dissection during procedures employing balloon angioplasty only could affect long-term patency.
This trial showed that CO2 angiography-guided angioplasty was effective for preventing CIN, however, CO2 angiography related complication was somewhat high.
IVUS evaluation of calcification in SFA lesions predicted lumen gain after EVT. Severe calcification in a ≥180° arc prevented successful dilation of the lesion with either plain balloon angioplasty or a nitinol stent. Accurate assessment of calcification patterns by IVUS is useful in maximizing the efficacy of endovascular therapy.
Purpose: To assess the utility of intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) during below-the-knee (BTK) interventions for patients with chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI). Materials and Methods: This retrospective single-center study included 216 symptomatic patients (mean age 74.2±9.5 years; 167 men) with CLTI and BTK steno-occlusive disease who underwent successful balloon angioplasty between January 2016 and August 2018. Data from 88 vessels (58 patients) treated with IVUS-guided pr
In the J-RAS trial, significant SBP reduction was seen in the HTN group, and stabilization of renal function in the CKD group. Renal artery stenting for ARAS is safe and effective in Japanese patients.
A reduced ratio of plasma eicosapentaenoic acid-arachidonic acid (EPA-AA) is a newly recognized atherosclerotic risk factor. This ratio has not been fully investigated in peripheral artery disease (PAD). Seventy Japanese patients with atherosclerotic risk factors were enrolled and divided into 2 groups, those with PAD (group A: n = 38) and those without PAD (group B: n = 32). The EPA-AA ratio (P = .001) and ankle-brachial index (ABI: P < .001) in group A were significantly lower than those in gr
The results of the year-long AVOCADO study demonstrated that usage of the novel VBX covered stent has a patency-based advantage with reduced chances for subsequent revascularization procedures.
