To improve the management of hybrid courses, the relationship between learner characteristics and learning performance was analyzed in two regular university courses. Undergraduate and graduate students participated in two 15-week hybrid courses which consisted of face-to-face lectures (Information Industrial issues), and the corresponding modules with online test. Subjects included 36 freshmen and 48 graduate students. Learner characteristics, consisting of motivation, personality, thinking sty
The oculo-motor re ects the viewer s ability to process visual information. This paper examines whether the oculo-motor was affected by two factors: rstly task dif culty and secondly eye-movement frequency. In this paper, oculo-motor indices were de ned as measurements of pupil size, blink and eye-movement. For the purpose of this study, two experiments were designed based on previous subsequential ocular tasks were subjects were required to solve a series of mathematical problems and to orally
The peroxisome biogenesis disorders (PBDs) are currently difficult-to-treat multiple-organ dysfunction disorders that result from the defective biogenesis of peroxisomes. Genes encoding Peroxins, which are required for peroxisome biogenesis or functions, are known causative genes of PBDs. The human peroxin genes PEX3 or PEX16 are required for peroxisomal membrane protein targeting, and their mutations cause Zellweger syndrome, a class of PBDs. Lack of understanding about the pathogenesis of Zell
This paper describes the influence of eye blinks on frequency analysis and power spectrum difference for task-evoked pupillography and eye-movement during an experiment which consisted of ocular following tasks and oral calculation tasks with three levels of task difficulty: control, 1×1,and 1×2 digit oral calculation. The compensation model for temporal pupil size based on MLP (multi layer perceptron) was trained to detect a blink and to estimate pupil size by using blinkless pupillary change an
A widely cited contextual algorithm for fire pixel detection was applied to NOAA-AVHRR data of Indonesia acquired during the severe fire season of 1997. The contextual algorithm tended to underestimate the number of fire pixels. Many fire pixels which could be identified visually in AVHRR band 3 imagery were missing in the output of the contextual algorithm. Through experimentation with the data. the authors were able to developed two alterations to the original algorithm to enhance the accuracy
A novel amplitude and phase linearizing technique for microwave power amplifiers has been developed. It employs a series feedback amplifier with a large source inductance as a predistortion linearizer, which provides positive amplitude and negative phase deviations for input power and can compensate for AM-AM and AM-PM distortions of power amplifiers. Applying this technique to a 1.9 GHz MMIC power amplifier for use in the Japanese Personal Handy-Phone System (PHS), an improvement of adjacent ch
The synapse has been extensively studied because it is essential for neurotransmission. By contrast, the space between the synaptic terminals, the synaptic cleft, is still an undeveloped research area despite its ubiquity in synapses. In fruit fly brains, we obtained evidence that the matrix protein Hasp and the previously identified Hig, both of which are secreted extracellularly, localize predominantly to synaptic clefts of cholinergic synapses, and modulate the levels of nAChR subunits on pos
A formative assessment was introduced to a blended learning course in order to predict participant’s learning performance using measurements of their note taking activity and metrics of their attitudes. The lexical metrics were created by analyzing the contents of student’s notes from every class, and by measuring their characteristics. In the results of two types of regression analysis of these measurements, features of note taking activities were a significant source of information for predict

A classification procedure for AMD patients has been developed using the features of PLR waveform shapes and their amplitudes. The results show that the error rates for healthy PLRs and AMD PLRs were low when the Random Forest method was used to produce the classification. The classification of pupils of patients with age-affected eyes should be carefully considered in order to produce optimum results.
