김미연 교수의 연구실은 천연물에서 유래한 생활화학물질, 특히 사포닌, 리그닌, 플라보노이드 등 식물성 항염증 및 면역조절 성분의 생리활성 메커니즘을 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 주로 갱신성 질환과 만성 염증 관련 질환의 예방 및 치료를 목표로 하며, 대사 경로 조절과 면역 반응 조절을 통한 기능성 소재 개발에 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 특히 고삼, 코돈프시스 라ン큘라타 등 전통 약용 식물의 활성 성분을 체계적으로 분석하고 있습니다.
