Nedaplatin, a cisplatin analog, has been developed to decrease the toxicities induced by cisplatin, such as nephrotoxicity and gastrointestinal toxicity. The dose of nedaplatin is determined by body surface area, not by the area under the curve (AUC). The recommended therapeutic dose is 80-100 mg/m(2), although the pharmacokinetic profile of nedaplatin is similar to that of carboplatin. In our preliminary study, there was a favorable correlation between AUC and creatinine clearance (CL), suggest
This was a nation-wide retrospective study in Japan examining women who underwent radical hysterectomy for clinical stage IB-IIB cervical cancer with pelvic and/or para-aortic lymph node metastasis between 2004 and 2008. Time to recurrence or death and patterns of disease recurrence were compared based upon the adjuvant treatment pattern: whole pelvic radiotherapy alone (n = 253), concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT, n = 502) and chemotherapy alone (n = 319). Women who received chemotherapy alone
The efficacy of radiotherapy (RT) for adenocarcinoma (AC) is controversial, although patients with AC of the uterine cervix are treated in a similar manner to those with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). This retrospective study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of adjuvant RT for patients with AC compared to those with SCC following radical hysterectomy. A total of 820 patients with stage IB-IIB cervical cancer, who underwent type III radical hysterectomy between 1997 and 2003, were retrospec
This study seeks to identify risk factors associated with ovarian metastasis and to characterize a population with minimum risk of ovarian metastasis in young women with stage IB-IIB cervical cancer. This was a nation-wide multicenter retrospective study in Japan examining consecutive cases of surgically-treated women with clinical stage IB-IIB cervical cancer who had oophorectomy at radical hysterectomy (n = 5,697). Multivariable analysis was performed to identify independent risk factors for o
Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) is a fatal gynecologic cancer, and its poor prognosis is mainly due to delayed diagnosis. Therefore, biomarker identification and prognosis prediction are crucial in EOC. Altered cell metabolism is a characteristic feature of cancers, and metabolomics reflects an individual's current phenotype. In particular, plasma metabolome analyses can be useful for biomarker identification. In this study, we analyzed 624 metabolites, including uremic toxins (UTx) in plasma de
The laparoscopic staging surgery is a feasible and safe alternative to the laparotomy for patients with presumed low-risk endometrial cancer, especially for obese patients. To perform the laparoscopic surgery for patients with stage IA endometrial cancer under the current national health insurance system, it is important to limit the candidates to low-risk disease based on a precise diagnosis before the surgery.
The aim of this study was to determine the significance of bowel resection in advanced ovarian cancer. A total of 64 women with stage IIIc or IV epithelial ovarian cancer, who consecutively received primary treatment between 1991 and 1995, were entered in this prospective study. The outcome of the patients undergoing bowel resection was evaluated. Thirty-nine patients underwent cytoreductive surgery at initial surgery. Of them, 16 patients could undergo optimal operation without bowel resection.
