We propose a series of quantum algorithms for computing a wide range of quantum entropies and distances, including the von Neumann entropy, quantum Rényi entropy, trace distance, and fidelity. The proposed algorithms significantly outperform the prior best (and even quantum) ones in the low-rank case, some of which achieve exponential speedups. In particular, for N</i> -dimensional quantum states of
In quantum information, trace distance is a basic metric of distinguishability between quantum states. However, there is no known efficient approach to estimate the value of trace distance in general. In this paper, we propose efficient quantum algorithms for estimating the trace distance within additive error ε between mixed quantum states of rank r</i> . Specifically, we first provide a quantum al

Measuring the distinguishability between quantum states is a basic problem in quantum information theory. In this paper, we develop optimal quantum algorithms that estimate both the trace distance and the (square root) fidelity between pure states to within additive error <inline-formula xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">$\varepsilon $ </tex-math></inline-formula> using <inline-formula xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.or
Abstract Lexicographically minimal string rotation (LMSR) is a problem to find the minimal one among all rotations of a string in the lexicographical order, which is widely used in equality checking of graphs, polygons, automata and chemical structures. In this paper, we propose an $$O(n^{3/4})$$ O(n3/4</mml:m
Entropy is a measure of the randomness of a system. Estimating the entropy of a quantum state is a basic problem in quantum information. In this paper, we introduce a time-efficient quantum approach to estimating the von Neumann entropy $S(ρ)$ and Rényi entropy $S_α(ρ)$ of an $N$-dimensional quantum state $ρ$, given access to independent samples of $ρ$. Specifically, we provide the following: 1. A quantum estimator for $S(ρ)$ with time complexity $\tilde O(N^2)$, improving the prior best time co
Random access machines (RAMs) and random access stored-program machines (RASPs) are models of computing that are closer to the architecture of real-world computers than Turing machines (TMs). They are also convenient in complexity analysis of algorithms. The relationships between RAMs, RASPs and TMs are well-studied. However, clear relationships between their quantum counterparts are still missing in the literature. We fill in this gap by formally defining the models of quantum random access mac
We define a formal framework for equivalence checking of sequential quantum circuits. The model we adopt is a quantum state machine, which is a natural quantum generalization of Mealy machines. A major difficulty in checking quantum circuits (but not present in checking classical circuits) is that the state spaces of quantum circuits are continuums. This difficulty is resolved by our main theorem showing that equivalence checking of two quantum Mealy machines can be done with input sequences tha
The paper studies the semi-fragile watermarking for the vector geographic data, and proposes a semi-fragile watermarking algorithm against geometric transformation for vector geographic data to achieve selective certification. The semi-fragile watermark information is generated using the invariant function of the vector geographic data in geometric transformation, and then the watermark information is embedded into the coordinates of the data points through modifying the value of the invariant f
The classification of current transformers and the principle of all-fiber optical current transformers are introduced. The solutions for the problems induced by liner birefringence and the fluctuation of the Verdet constant etc in all-fiber optical current transformers are reviewed. In addition, the progress in othertyped optical current transformer, such as using magnetostrictive material and fiber gratings are also recommended.
