Raghab Ray教授の研究室は、マングローブ生態系における炭素循環に注目し、特に「ブルーカbon」の一部である「アウトウェリング」(有機炭素の海洋輸送)や大気二酸化炭素上昇に伴う炭素貯蔵の変化を、モデル化と現場観察を融合して解明しています。主にベングル湾やサンダーバンズ、フランスギアナのマングローブを対象に、溶解・粒子状有機炭素(DOC, POC)や無機炭素(DIC)の時空間的動態を多スケールで解析しています。また、高潮やサイクロンなどの自然災害が炭素循環に与える影響や、人間社会と自然の共存の在り方も併せて探求しています。
