Ryoichi Nagatomi教授の研究室は、筋肉の再生と線維化のメカニズムに注目し、筋芽細胞(satellite cell)の機能制御や、TGF-β1による線維芽細胞への分化、HIF-1αの筋細胞分化における役割を解明しています。また、運動やストレスが免疫細胞に与える影響や、老化に伴う医療費との関連についても、臨床的・実験的アプローチを用いて研究を展開しています。特に、筋幹細胞のプロテアソーム機能や、神経免疫調節のメカニズムに注力しており、再生医療や高齢者医療の基盤を築く研究が進められています。
