Hayashi教授の研究室では、ヒト induced pluripotent stem cells(iPSCs)を用いた眼表面再生医療の基盤技術の確立をめざしています。特に、角膜上皮細胞や結膜上皮細胞への効率的で高純度な誘導分化法の開発、ならびにその細胞を用いた組織工学的細胞シートの品質評価手法の構築が主な研究テーマです。TGF-βシグナルの制御やKLF4の機能解明を通じて、線維化や異形成を防ぐ幹細胞制御のメカニズム解明にも貢献しています。
