Glypican-1 (GPC1) is highly expressed in solid tumors, especially squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs), and is thought to be associated with disease progression. We explored the use of a GPC1-targeted antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) as a novel treatment for uterine cervical cancer. On immunohistochemical staining, high expression levels of GPC1 were detected in about 50% of uterine cervical cancer tissues and also in a tumor that had relapsed after chemoradiotherapy. Novel anti-GPC1 monoclonal antibodi
Objective Concurrent placenta previa and placenta accreta increase the risk of massive obstetric hemorrhage. Despite extensive research on the management of placenta previa (including placenta accreta, increta, and percreta), the number and quality of previous studies are limited. We present a case of placenta accreta requiring an induced second-trimester abortion because of premature rupture of the membranes (PROM). Study Design Case report and review of the literature. Results A 41-year-old fe
Vasa previa is a rare fetal life-threatening obstetric disease classified into types I and II. This study aimed to examine the characteristics and obstetric outcomes of type II vasa previa. A systematic review was performed, and 20 studies (1998-2022) were identified. The results from six studies showed that type II vasa previa accounted for 21.3% of vasa previa cases. The characteristics and obstetric outcomes (rate of assisted reproductive technology (ART), antenatal diagnosis, emergent cesare
Vasa previa carries a high risk of severe fetal morbidity and mortality due to fetal hemorrhage caused by damage to unprotected fetal cord vessels upon membrane rupture. Vasa previa is generally classified into types I and II. However, some cases are difficult to classify, and some studies have proposed a type III classification. This study aimed to review the current evidence on type III vasa previa. A systematic literature search was conducted, and 11 articles (2011-2022) were included. A syst
Hardly any report exists on the influence of hysteroscopic myomectomy on subsequent pregnancy. Placenta accreta is most often associated with placenta previa in women with multiple prior cesarean sections. We report the first case of placenta accreta without placenta previa during the first pregnancy subsequent to hysteroscopic myomectomy.
This study aimed to investigate the cytotoxicity of a cluster of differentiation 70 antibody-drug conjugate (CD70-ADC) against ovarian cancer in in vitro and in vivo xenograft models. CD70 expression was assessed in clinical samples by immunohistochemical analysis. Western blotting and fluorescence-activated cell sorting analyses were used to determine CD70 expression in the ovarian cancer cell lines A2780 and SKOV3, and in the cisplatin-resistant ovarian cancer cell lines A2780cisR and SKOV3cis
The placenta has several crucial physiological functions that help maintain a normal pregnancy. Although approximately 2-4% of pregnancies are complicated by abnormal placentas, obstetric outcomes remain understudied. This study aimed to determine the outcomes and prevalence of patients with abnormal placentas by conducting a systematic review of 48 studies published between 1974 and 2022. The cumulative prevalence of circumvallate placenta, succenturiate placenta, multilobed placenta, and place
In this systematic review and meta-analysis, although GC pregnancies had slightly improved outcomes compared with non-GC ART pregnancies, they posed higher risks than general pregnancies. Contributing factors may include ART procedures and increased rates of multiple gestations which influence adverse perinatal outcomes in GC pregnancies.
Vasa previa is a rare but clinically important obstetrical complication that can be associated with a low-lying placenta or placenta previa. We aim to convey the challenges in diagnosing this condition by presenting 2 cases of pseudo vasa previa diagnosed antenatally as vasa previa using standard and color Doppler ultrasonography. Both patients were falsely diagnosed; only a low-lying placenta was revealed after delivery. These reports emphasize that accurate identification of vasa previa on cer
Placenta previa presents a highest risk to pregnancy, and placenta accreta is the most serious. Placenta accreta requires cesarean delivery and often results in massive obstetric hemorrhage and higher maternal morbidity. Challenges associated with cesarean delivery techniques may contribute to increased maternal blood loss and morbidity rates. Several recent obstetric studies reported the usefulness of transverse uterine fundal incision for managing placenta accreta. We present a case of placent
Randomized clinical trials assessing the efficacy of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) for advanced epithelial ovarian cancer have predominantly included women with high-grade serous carcinomas. The response rate and oncological outcomes of NACT for malignant ovarian germ cell tumors (MOGCT) are poorly understood. This study aimed to examine the effects of NACT on women with MOGCT by conducting a systematic review of four public search engines. Fifteen studies were identified, and a further descri
Abstract Objective:Ovarian cancer is the most lethal gynecological malignancy. Five-year survival of advanced ovarian cancer patients remains less than 50% and the mortality rate has not changed in recent years. This study is aimed to screen for novel ovarian cancer therapeutic targets using quantitative proteomic approach and to develop antibody-based medicine targeting novel ovarian cancer antigens. Method:Exhaustive quantitative proteome analysis focused on cell surface membrane proteins were
