Professor Se-Hoon Jeong's research lab focuses on media literacy, persuasion, and media multitasking, with an emphasis on how individuals process media messages, especially in complex media environments. The lab investigates the cognitive, attitudinal, and behavioral effects of media use, including the persuasive power of visual metaphors, the impact of multitasking on comprehension and decision-making, and the role of information processing in misinformation exposure. A key focus is on understanding how individual differences—such as sensation seeking and cognitive control—and contextual factors influence media engagement and outcomes. The lab also explores the role of media literacy in fostering critical thinking and resilience to misinformation, particularly in youth and during crises like the COVID-19 pandemic.

Although numerous media literacy interventions have been developed and delivered over the past 3 decades, a comprehensive meta-analytic assessment of their effects has not been available.
