Seong-Yun Kim教授の研究室は、神経変性疾患、特に虚血性脳障害に伴う白質損傷の病態解明を主眼としています。マウスやラットを用いた脳虚血モデルを用い、ミクログリアの活性化と神経新生の関与を解析しています。また、ウラニウム化学や希土類元素の抽出技術にも関心を持ち、放射性核種の効率的分離を目的とした金属イオン吸着材料の開発も行っています。
