Professor Seung Hyun Kim's research lab specializes in natural product chemistry and phytochemical analysis, focusing on the isolation, structural elucidation, and biological evaluation of bioactive compounds from medicinal plants and marine organisms. The lab investigates the antioxidant, antiviral, hepatoprotective, and gastroprotective activities of natural compounds, with particular emphasis on phenolics, lignans, sesquiterpenes, and naphthoquinones. Utilizing advanced analytical techniques such as HPLC, NMR, and high-resolution mass spectrometry, the lab integrates metabolomics approaches to understand plant responses to stress and disease.
