Shinji Ando 교수의 연구실은 유기반도체 소재의 설계 및 응용을 중심으로, 특히 n형 반도체로서의 고성능 유기 필드효과 트랜지스터(OFET) 소재 개발에 주력하고 있습니다. 테이플로르기, 트리플루오로메틸페닐기, 테아졸, 테아졸로티아졸 등의 유기 구조를 도입하여 전하 이동성 향상과 안정성 확보에 초점을 맞추고 있으며, 고온에서 작동하는 효소의 개발을 통해 생체촉매의 산업적 응용 가능성도 탐색하고 있습니다. 특히, 분자 구조와 전기적·유기 전자적 성질 간의 상관관계를 규명하는 데에 기여하고 있습니다.

Novel thiazole oligomers and thiazole/thiophene co-oligomers with trifluoromethylphenyl groups were developed as n-type semiconductors for OFETs. They showed excellent n-type performances with high electron mobilities. A 5,5'-bithiazole with trifluoromethylphenyl groups forms a closely packed two-dimensional columnar structure leading to a high performance n-type FET. The electron mobility was enhanced to 1.83 cm2/Vs on the OTS-treated substrate.
Novel pi-electron systems with trifluoromethylphenyl groups and/or a thiazolothiazole unit were developed as n-type semiconductors for OFETs. They showed excellent n-type performances with high electron mobilities. The trifluoromethylphenyl group was found to be very effective in inducing n-type behavior. The thiazolothiazole unit was favorable for forming stacking structures leading to efficient intermolecular pi-pi interactions.
Novel anthracene derivatives were prepared as semiconductors for FETs to prove the effect of terminal groups on charge transport. The n- and p-type activities were achieved by introduction of acceptor or donor units into the anthracene structure.
Changes in synaptic density in various brain regions were assessed among different age groups of rats maintained in ordinary small cages, as determined by synaptophysin assay. The synaptophysin content in hippocampus decreases as early as in the adult stage. The most remarkable decrement occurs in occipital cortex. Numerical synaptic density and synaptic vesicle density in rat frontal cortex were examined by electron microscopy as a function of age. The density of axospinous synapses, a major population of synapses, was found to peak at age 1 month, and to gradually decrease with aging.
