Shotaro Chubachi教授の研究室は、慢性閉塞性肺疾患(COPD)をはじめとする呼吸器疾患の合併症、特に骨量減少や肺高血圧症、がんリスクのメカニズムを解明することを主眼としています。遺伝的要因(例:LRP5遺伝子多型)や画像所見、代謝異常(尿酸値)がCOPDの進行や合併症に与える影響を、大規模コhortを用いた疫学的・臨床的アプローチで解明しています。特にCOPD患者における骨・肺・循環器系の連関や、新型コロナウイルス感染症の病態と呼吸器疾患の関連についても積極的に研究を進めています。
