Professor Sung Reul Kim's research lab focuses on environmental health and occupational health, with a strong emphasis on human exposure to environmental pollutants and their impacts on maternal and infant health. The lab investigates the presence and analysis of toxic chemicals—such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs)—in human milk, aiming to assess exposure risks and inform public health policies. Additionally, the lab explores psychosocial factors affecting healthcare professionals, particularly nurses, examining the interplay between personality traits, compassion fatigue, burnout, and job satisfaction to support mental well-being in high-stress clinical environments. Nurses' well-being should be assessed along with resilience, gratitude disposition, burnout, compassion satisfaction and job satisfaction. To improve the well-being of clinical nurses, systematic and integrated intervention programmes need to be developed and applied, with consideration for a variety of factors related to well-being.
Because understanding patients' perceptions of their fall risk is essential for preventing falls, it is necessary to regularly assess patients' fall risk perception using tools with established reliability and validity.
The findings suggest that the integrated self-management program that was implemented in this study could be a potentially effective intervention to improve the self-management of hemodialysis patients. Further research on various nursing intervention programs is warranted, including a mobile application program to improve hemodialysis patients' self-management.
