T. Nakatsuka教授の研究室は、脂肪肝疾患(NAFLD)と糖尿病が関連する肝細胞癌(HCC)の発症メカニズムに注目し、特にエピジェネティクスの役割やDNA損傷応答におけるキラースタンスの解明を進めています。特に、ヒストンメチルトランスフェラーゼG9aがHCCの発がんを促進するメカニズムをマウスモデルを用いて解明しており、がんの早期発見や標的療法の開発に貢献する可能性を示しています。また、画像解析技術や血行動態のモニタリングを応用した肝疾患の早期診断法の確立にも取り組んでいます。
