石井貴美教授の研究室は、幹細幹細胞を用いた再生医療、特に肝細胞への分化誘導とその応用に焦点を当てています。ヒト胚性幹細胞や induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) を用いた肝芽洞形成の最適化や、ラットのデセルキュレーション肝スキャフォールドを用いた人工肝の構築にも成功しています。また、肝癌の病態解明や、がん幹細胞のメタスタシス機構に関する研究も並行して進められています。
