福田隆史教授の研究室は、細胞の分化・移動制御に関与する転写因子Runx2とPI3K-Aktシグナル経路の関連を解明するとともに、ウイルス感染に対する細胞の応答機構、特にRIG-I様リセプターを介したインターフェロン応答の分子機構を解析しています。特に、抗ウイルスストレス顆粒(avSG)の形成や、型IIIインターフェロン(IFN-λ)の発現制御機構といった、感染免疫の新規シグナル伝達経路の解明を進めています。

Runx2 and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)-Akt signaling play important roles in osteoblast and chondrocyte differentiation. We investigated the relationship between Runx2 and PI3K-Akt signaling. Double-stranded RNA or virus triggers a specific signal cascade that results in the activation of the IRF-3/-7 kinase we detected, which corresponds to the long-sought signalling machinery that is responsible for triggering the early phase of innate response. The signal branches to a common NF-kappaB activation cascade, thus resulting in the activation of a set of critical transcription factors for the response.
