Shinohara教授の研究室は、精巣における精巣幹細胞(SSC)の生物学的特性とその自己複製・線分化のメカニズムを解明することを目的としています。特に、幹細胞の表面マーカーの同定や、GDNF非依存の自己複製機構の解明、ならびに希少な幹細胞を長期的に培養・遺伝子操作可能なシステムの確立に成功しています。これらの研究は、不妊症のメカニズム解明や、小児がん患者の精子バンク技術の発展にも貢献しています。
