A refined model for the unusual Type Ic supernova 1998bw, discovered as the optical counterpart of GRB980425, is presented, and synthetic light curves and spectra are compared with the observations. The first 30 days of the light curve and the broad line features of the spectra can be reproduced with the hydrodynamical model of the explosion of a 14$M_\odot$ C+O star, the core of a star with initial mass 40$M_\odot$, assuming that the explosion was very energetic (kinetic energy $E_{\rm K} = 5 \
A novel molecular spin ladder structure of a nickel dithiolate complex has been constructed using a supramolecular cation composed of anilinium and 18-crown-6.
Artificial molecular rotators were designed in an attempt to achieve unidirectional molecular rotation. Supramolecular assemblies of cations and crown ethers in the solid state were shown to form rotator structures, diverse in their rotational symmetry and frequency. The counter cation of [Ni(dmit)2]- anion, bearing one S=1/2 spin, was used to couple molecular rotation to magnetic properties. Random rotation of [18]crown-6 molecules was first observed in the Cs(+)2([18]crown-6)(3) supramolecule,
Abstract The bulk conductivity, 10−2 S cm−1, in the lateral direction of the Langmuir–Blodgett films has been achieved using the amphiphilic 1:2 charge transfer complex, N-docosylpyridinium-(TCNQ)2, without any doping or further treatments. These films are stable for at least two months in air at room temperature.
Abstract Conductive Langmuir–Blodgett films of tridecylmethylammonium–Au(dmit)2 complex are described. The 1:1 mixed films with icosanoic acid were converted into conductors by oxidation. The film exhibited the conductivity of ca. 25 S/cm, which showed the metallic temperature dependence around room temperature.
