石川達也教授の研究室は、寒冷地帯における土質災害のメカニズム解明と予測技術の確立を主眼としています。特に、積雪融解期に発生する土砂災害の原因となる水分挙動や土壌の力学的特性の変化に注目し、凍結・融解作用が土壌の保持特性・透水性・強度に与える影響を実験的・数値的に解明しています。また、鉄道用 Ballast の繰返し荷重挙動や、ボルケイanic土壌の破壊挙動に関する基礎的実験とその応用研究も進めています。
