Toshiaki Onitsuka教授の研究室は、精神疾患、特に統合失調症の神経生物学的基盤を解明することを目的としています。主に脳画像法(MRI)と脳電図・磁気脳刺激法(EEG/MEG)を用いて、顔認識障害や認知機能障害の神経回路の異常を解明しています。特に、扁桃体周辺の脳領域や側頭頭蓋回の灰白質体積の減少、および神経同期性の障害(例:γバンド周波数のASSR異常)が、統合失調症の特徴的病態と関連していると示唆しています。
