Toshiyuki Nagai教授の研究室は、心不全の発症・進行メカニズムに焦点を当て、特に虚血性心疾患後の心筋修復、炎症反応、酸化的な損傷、および心筋症における心室リモデリングの分子機構を解明することを目的としています。特に、マクロファージや樹状細胞の免疫調節機能、C-reactive protein やトランスポーティング・エリスロポietイン(EPO)といったバイオマーカーの病態的役割を、臨床的・実験的アプローチで解明しています。また、心不全の予後予測や個別化医療に資するバイオマーカーの同定にも注力しています。

Serum C-reactive protein (CRP) elevation predicts the development of heart failure in patients with hypertension. CRP activates macrophages and enhances oxidative stress.
