Vishwajit S. Chowdhury教授の研究室は、家禽(きんきょく)の生理的応答とストレス耐性のメカニズムを、神経内分泌系とアミノ酸代謝の観点から解明しています。特に、メラトニンがGnIHニューロンに及ぼす影響や、L-シトルリンやL-ロイシンの体温調節機能、熱ストレス下におけるアミノ酸代謝の変化に注目しています。また、神経ペプチドやホルモンの調節機構を通じて、家禽の生産性と健康の向上に寄与する新規戦略の開発を目指しています。

Gonadotropin-inhibitory hormone (GnIH), a neuropeptide that inhibits gonadotropin synthesis and release, was first identified in quail hypothalamus.
