ミカミ教授の研究室は、炎症性腸疾患(IBD)の発症メカニズムに注目し、神経免疫調節や自然免疫細胞(特にILC3やT細胞)のシグナル伝達機構の解明を進めています。特に、迷走神経による自己制御的抗炎症反応(チロシン抗炎症路)や、Th17/Th1細胞のバランス制御が腸管炎症に与える影響を、マウスモデルとゲノム解析を用いて分子レベルで解明しています。また、5-ASAの副作用や最適投与戦略についての臨床的知見も併せて研究しており、基礎と臨床の橋渡しを図る研究が特徴です。

5-ASA is used as first-line therapy for ulcerative colitis. Optimization of 5-ASA may be beneficial for patient outcomes and healthcare systems.
