The evaluation of groundwater quality is crucial for irrigation purposes; however, due to financial constraints in developing countries, such evaluations suffer from insufficient sampling frequency, hindering comprehensive assessments. Therefore, associated with machine learning approaches and the irrigation water quality index (IWQI), this research aims to evaluate the groundwater quality in Naama, a region in southwest Algeria. Hydrochemical parameters (cations, anions, pH, and EC), qualitativ
Ecotourism in Saudi Arabia (KSA) is gaining significant attention due to the country’s diverse natural landscapes, rich biodiversity, and efforts to preserve and display its environmental treasures. This study presents a comprehensive assessment of urban green space (UGS) suitability in the Taif region of Saudi Arabia using a geographic information system (GIS) combined with a multiple-criteria decision-analysis-based analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The integration of various morphologic, topo
Inadequate municipal solid waste (MSW) management has become a pressing concern, resulting in significant environmental contamination, particularly in developing countries. Composting has demonstrated its practicality and feasibility for addressing this issue; however, the lack of at-source solid waste separation remains a major challenge. As a result, in this study, the first sustainable MSW separation at source was conducted in Tan An City, Long An Province. The objective of this study was to
Medium-density fibreboard (MDF) belongs to a class of engineered wood products facilitating efficient use of wood wastes. For this class of materials, the development of predictive models is crucial for the simulation of their responses under mechanical loads. In this study, samples of sandwich structures based on MDF as the skins and a mushroom-based foam as the core are fabricated and tested under edgewise compression tests. Results from the tests support the idea that increasing the thickness
Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) are recognized as persistent emerging pollutants worldwide, and long-term exposure will seriously harm natural ecosystems and human health. However, as the largest producer and consumer of fluorochemicals, China has limited research on the environmental fate and influencing factors of PFOA and PFOS in surface waters. To address this gap, a meta-analysis was conducted using 34 articles related to PFAS pollution in China’s surface
Reservoir operations play a pivotal role in shaping the flow regime of the Chao Phraya River Basin (CPRB), where two major reservoirs exert substantial hydrological influence. Despite ongoing efforts to manage water resources effectively, current operational strategies often lack the adaptability required to address the compounded uncertainties of climate change and increasing water demands. This research addresses this critical gap by developing an optimization model for reservoir operation tha
