Aggressive subtypes of small PTC tumors smaller than or equal to 1 cm exhibited more extrathyroidal extension and neck node metastasis. This study suggests that surgeons should consider the aggressive subtypes as important factors when deciding the range of surgery in PTCs smaller than 1 cm.
Adrenal injury due to blunt abdominal trauma is extremely rare. The majority of cases can be diagnosed using CT. Most cases involve the right side and can be treated successfully using conservative management. Surgery is required only in cases of active bleeding.
Preoperative diagnosis of parathyroid carcinoma is difficult, but operative findings are helpful in the diagnosis. The optimal surgical treatment is en block radical resection including adjacent structures when parathyroid carcinoma is suspected. Unusually, although our patients presented with high serum PTH concentrations, they had normal or mild elevated serum calcium concentrations. The reason of why should be investigated in future studies.
Although PTLs are scarce, clinicians should be aware of this rare entity and evaluate and treat PTLs on an individual basis.
