Hagiwara教授の研究室は、関節拘縮や関節周囲組織の線維化に伴う運動機能障害のメカニズムを解明することを目的としています。特に、関節固定による軟部組織の変化、特に関節包や関節軟骨の線維化・弾性変化に注目し、成長因子(TGF-β1やCTGF)の発現動態を解析しています。また、関節鏡的手術や生体組織の力学的特性評価(音速測定による弾性評価)を用いた臨床的応用も進めています。

The objective was to determine the changes of articular cartilage of the knee joint during immobilization in a rat model. Our data suggest that the increased elasticity and structural changes of the posterior SM are one of the main causes of limited extension after a long period of immobilization in flexion using SAM, which is a powerful tool for evaluating the elasticity of targeted tissues.
