Asada教授の研究室は、赤方偏移が高く、宇宙の再電離期付近の銀河の星形成歴や環境要因を、ハッブル・ジェームズ・ウブン・スペース望遠鏡(JWST)を用いた高精度画像・分光観測を通じて解明することを主眼としています。特に、重力レンズ効果を活用した深宇宙観測により、低質量銀河における星形成のバースト性や、銀河合体がもたらす星形成の急増現象を精密に分析しています。また、高赤方偏移銀河の光度関数や星形成率関数の正確な推定、および中性水素ガスによる光の減光効果のモデル構築にも貢献しています。

ABSTRACT We use CANUCS JWST/NIRCam imaging of galaxies behind the gravitationally-lensing cluster MACS J0417.5-1154 to investigate star formation burstiness in low-mass (M⋆ ∼ 108 M⊙) galaxies at z ∼ 4.7–6.5. Our sample of 123 galaxies is selected using the Lyman break selection and photometric emission-line excess methods. ABSTRACT Using CANUCS imaging we found an apparent major merger of two $z$ ∼ 5 ultra-low-mass galaxies (M⋆∼107M⊙ each) that are doubly imaged and magnified ∼12–15× by the lensing cluster MACS 0417. Both galaxies are experiencing young (∼100 Myr), synchronised bursts of star formation with log (sSFR/Gyr−1) ∼1.3–1.4, yet SFRs of just ∼0.2M⊙ yr−1. Abstract We present a star formation rate function (SFRF) at z ∼ 4.5 based on photometric data from the rest UV to optical of galaxies in the CANDELS GOODS-South field using spectral energy distribution (SED) fitting. Abstract We search for H α emitters at z ∼ 7.8 in four gravitationally lensed fields observed in the Hubble Frontier Fields program. We use the Lyman break method to select galaxies at the target redshift and perform photometry in the Spitzer/IRAC 5.8 μ m band to detect H α emission from the candidate galaxies.
