이 교수의 연구실은 미생물, 특히 유산균과 병원성 박테리아의 상호작용을 중심으로, 생물막 형성, 항생제 내성 세포(퍼시스터) 형성, 숙주-미생물 상호작용 등에서 토크신-항토크신 시스템과 박테리아의 생리적 조절 메커니즘을 규명하고자 합니다. 특히 Lactobacillus acidophilus와 같은 프로바이오틱스의 면역 조절 기능, 천연물질이 천식 및 골다골로시에 미치는 영향 등에도 관심을 기울이며, 미생물-숙주 상호작용의 분자 기전을 다각도로 연구하고 있습니다.
