오시마 유지 교수의 연구실은 수생 생물에 영향을 미치는 환경오염물질, 특히 마이크로플라스틱과 유기스니치 화합물(예: TBT, PCBs)의 생물학적 영향을 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 주로 일본 메다카와 진주조개를 모델 생물로 삼아 오염물질의 생식 독성, 축적 메커니즘, 행동 변화 등을 실험적으로 규명하고 있습니다. 특히 수중 생물의 생식 기능 저하와 생태계 영향을 이해하기 위한 분자생물학적·행동학적 접근이 특징입니다.

Abstract Japanese medaka (Oryzias latipes) were fed daily on one of four diets containing tributyltin (TBT), PCBs, a combination of TBT and PCBs, or a control diet (with nothing added). Contaminant doses were 1 μg/g body weight per day for 3 weeks. The combination of TBT and PCB showed additive effects on the spawning of medaka, resulting in a significant reduction in spawning frequency, and on the number of spawned eggs and fertilization success when compared with effects in fish fed either a T
Abstract High tributyltin concentrations (2.5–52.5 times those in muscle) were detected in the blood of three cultured fish species (Japanese flounder, red sea bream, yellowtail) and wild flatfish. The result suggests that fish serum or plasma can be used for monitoring butyltin contamination in aquatic biota.

We examined the effect of tributyltin (TBT) on reproduction of the pearl oyster (Pinctada fucata martensii). In a maternal exposure test, five female pearl oysters were exposed to TBT at measured concentrations of 0 (control), 0.092, or 0.191 microg/L at 25 degreesC for one week, and the embryo developmental success (the ratio of normal D-larvae to all larvae) was measured.
