Yuki Saito教授の研究室は、細胞のサルコペニアや線維化、慢性炎症に関与する前駆細胞(FAPs)の老化状態とその機能の両面的役割に注目し、筋萎縮性疾患や糖尿病性傷害における再生医療のメカニズムを解明しています。特に、運動が筋肉再生に与える影響は、FAPの老化によって誘導される「再生性の炎症反応」に依存しており、そのバランスの制御が鍵であると示唆されています。また、がんの転移や代謝再プログラミングに関連する酵素(ALDOA)の機能や、傷害治癒におけるサルコペニアと関連するサルコペニアのメカニズムについても、臨床的意義を踏まえた基盤研究を進めています。
