Yusuke Okazaki教授の研究室は、淡水環境における微生物の多様性と生態的役割に焦点を当てた研究を推進しています。特に酸素を含む深層湖水(ホリミニオン)に生息するバクテリオプランクトンやウイルスのコミュニティ構造、遺伝的多様性、およびその時空間的変動を、次世代シーケンシングやメタゲノム解析を用いて解明しています。また、未培養微生物の生態的意義や、環境要因がゲノム多様性に与える影響についても、高分解能なメタゲノム解析を駆使して研究を展開しています。
