Yuya Shibuya教授の研究室は、ヒューマンコンピュータインタラクション(HCI)とビッグデータを融合し、特にソーシャルメディアやオープンデータを活用して、災害時における人的行動や感情、社会経済的回復の動態を解明することを主眼としています。特に、地域社会の回復プロセスをリアルタイムで捉えるためのAI駆動の分析手法や、行動データと感情の関係を地理的情報と統合して分析する研究が特徴です。また、パンデミック時におけるオープンデータの行動影響や、避難者の移動行動の可視化など、社会的課題に寄与する実用的で社会的意義の高い研究を推進しています。
