15Glucose transporter-1 (GLUT1) has been proposed as a prognosticator in various cancers associated with therapeutic resistance and immune evasion; however little data is available on the role of GLUT1 in cervical cancer. Most cervical cancers are caused by human papilloma virus (HPV), but studies on the treatment response and prognosis depending on the HPV subtype, are conflicting. This hypothesis-generating study aims to investigate the prognostic impact of GLUT1 in cervical cancer, in conjuncti
Adjuvant chemoradiotherapy after PD for DCC is an effective and tolerable strategy without significant side effects. During long-term follow-up, we found that prognosis of DCC was mainly influenced by histologic differentiation and LN metastasis. For patients with these risk factors, further research should focus on improving adjuvant strategies as well as other treatment approaches.
Unwanted radiological or nuclear exposure remains a public health risk for which effective therapeutic countermeasures are lacking. Here, we evaluated the efficacy of fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF2) in treating radiation-induced gastrointestinal syndrome (RIGS) incurred by lethal whole-body irradiation (WBI) when administered in conjunction with bone marrow transplantation (BMT). In vitro experiments indicated FGF2 treatment increased proliferation, reduced apoptosis, and upregulated AKT-GSK3β
Locoregional RT was associated with significantly longer survival in BCLC stage C HCC patients who were treated with sorafenib. Therefore, incorporating locoregional RT could improve the dismal prognosis for these patients.
Survival and recurrence patterns after adjuvant chemoradiotherapy are significantly affected by perioperative CA19-9 change. This may have important implications in patient selection for adjuvant chemoradiotherapy and clinical trial design.
RT may offer survival benefit in OBC even after mastectomy or ALND, especially in patients with more than seven metastatic LNs. Further prospective studies are needed to validate these findings.
PORT significantly improved OS rates, though the individual benefit was affected by a number of factors. We successfully developed a nomogram and web-based calculator that predicted the prognosis according to PORT in patients with surgically resected de novo stage IV breast cancer. These tools are expected to be useful in clinical practice and in the design of related trials.
Low-dose WBRT with tumor bed boost after methotrexate-based chemotherapy might be an effective method for management of PCNSL.
