15This study represents the first attempt to construct an instrument for assessing patient reports on the quality of primary care, which is applicable to the Chinese context. Psychometric assessments indicated that the PCAT-C is a useful instrument for assessing the core attributes of primary care in China.
Celecoxib is a potential inhibitor of neointimal formation by blocking injury-induced Akt activation. These findings suggest a potential use for celecoxib in the prevention of restenosis after angioplasty.
Our study concludes a series of socioeconomic factors, and previous childbearing and childrearing experiences are crucial for women's fertility intention for a third child. These findings highlight the importance of launching supportive measures in addition to the introduction of the 3-child policy in promoting a fertility-friendly society.
Mitochondrial dysfunction is increasingly recognized as a central contributor to the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), including heart failure, ischemic heart disease, hypertension, and cardiomyopathy. Mitochondria, known as the powerhouses of the cell, play a vital role in maintaining cardiac energy homeostasis, regulating reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and controlling cell death pathways. Dysregulated mitochondrial function results in impaired adenosine triphosphate (AT
Vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) undergo phenotypic changes in response to vascular injury such as angioplasty. Protein kinase G (PKG) has an important role in the process of VSMC phenotype switching. In this study, we examined whether rosiglitazone, a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)-γ agonist, could modulate VSMC phenotype through the PKG pathway to reduce neointimal hyperplasia after angioplasty. In vitro experiments showed that rosiglitazone inhibited the phenotype chang
Sildenafil is known to reduce cardiac hypertrophy through cGMP-dependent protein kinase (cGK) activation. Studies have demonstrated that cGK has a central switching role in modulating vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) phenotype in response to vascular injury. Here, we aimed to examine the effects of cGK activation by sildenafil on neointimal formation and platelet aggregation. After vascular injury, neointimal hyperplasia in rat carotid arteries was significantly reduced in the sildenafil-treat
Mitochondrial dysfunction represents a pivotal characteristic of numerous neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. These conditions, distinguished by unique clinical and pathological features, exhibit shared pathways leading to neuronal damage, all of which are closely associated with mitochondrial dysfunction. The high metabolic requirements of neurons make even minor mitochondrial deficiencies high

Although high LDL cholesterol levels increase the risk of ASCVD, low LDL cholesterol levels do not warrant safety from ASCVD. Therefore, individuals with low LDL cholesterol levels should be carefully monitored.
The increasing global health crisis of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and Huntington's disease is worsening because of a rapidly increasing aging population. Disease-modifying therapies continue to face development challenges due to the blood-brain barrier (BBB), which prevents more than 98% of small molecules and all biologics from entering the central nervous system. The therapeutic landscape for neurodegenerative diseases has recent
In response to the evolving demographic landscape, maintaining a delicate balance between expanding health care benefits and ensuring financial sustainability will be crucial for the continued success of the health care system. Further research and evaluation of ongoing pilot programs will be essential in refining these strategies and achieving a more resilient and equitable system for health and long-term care for older adults. As the global population continues to age, the lessons learned from
The analysis suggests that socioeconomic status, dietary intake in early old age, and ADL capacity are associated with the risk of having fewer teeth for the population aged 80 years and above, and the risk factors vary between sexes.
Epidural infusions of morphine combined with small-dose naloxone effectively inhibit the gastrointestinal motility of rabbits via the reduction of ICC in the proximal colon of the gastrointestinal tract of rabbits. Moreover, small-dose of naloxone enhances the analgesic effect and reduces the risk of adverse reactions.
Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists now serve as therapeutic agents for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) beyond their original use for treating type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This review combines molecular mechanisms with clinical evidence to demonstrate how GLP-1 agonists help lower cardiovascular risk for conditions, including atherosclerosis, heart failure, stroke, and vascular dementia. These agents produce multiple beneficial effects, which include anti-inflammatory action alo
