연구실 소개

여환명 교수의 연구실은 목재의 물리적·역학적 성질 향상과 지속 가능한 목재 처리 기술 개발을 핵심으로 삼고 있습니다. 과열증기 열처리, NIR 분광법 기반 종별 식별, 나노미세구조 제어를 통한 목재 탄소화 특성 분석 등 고부가가치 목재 기술에 초점을 맞추고 있으며, 특히 목재의 수분 거동, 수축성, 내구성 향상 메커니즘을 정량적으로 분석하는 데 전문성을 기르고 있습니다. 이와 함께 딥러닝 기반 이미지 분석 및 스펙트럼 기반 목재 특성 예측 모델링도 활발히 수행하고 있습니다.

Lumber species identification is an important issue for the wood industry. In this study, three types of neural networks (artificial neural network (ANN), deep neural network (DNN), and convolutional neural network (CNN)) were employed for classifying softwood lumber species using NIR spectroscopy. The results show that CNN, which is based on deep learning, was more stable than the other neural networks. In particular, the stability of the training process was remarkably improved in CNN models.

본 연구에서는 과열증기를 이용한 열처리 공정 제어 방법을 설계하고 적용하였다. <TEX>$170^{\circ}C$</TEX>, 0.4 MPa 조건의 과열증기에서 약 10시간 동안 열처리한 잣나무 판재의 물리 및 역학적 성질 변화를 무처리재 및 <TEX>$220^{\circ}C$</TEX> 상압조건에서 일반 열처리한 목재와 비교하였다. 과열증기 처리재는 무처리재에 비해서 수분 흡습량 및 평형함수율이 낮아졌으며, 종압축 강도 및 휨 강도가 증가하였다. 흡습성은 일반 열처리재와 비슷하였으며, 일반 열처리 시 발생하기 쉬운 내부 할렬은 발생하지 않았다. 또한 과열증기 처리에 의해서 잣나무 내부에 있는 다량의 송진이 제거되는 효과도 나타내었다. 열처리와 자외선처리를 이용한 삼나무 재색제어

삼나무의 심재 부위에는 흑화현상이 자주 발생한다. 심재 내 페놀성 추출물과 Norlignans 물질이 약알칼리하에서 산화함으로써 흑화현상이 발생한다고 보고된 바 있다. 본 연구에서는 삼나무 내부 흑심재와 변재간의 색상차를 줄여보고자 열처리와 광처리를 실시하였다. 열처리로는 열기건조, 진공가열건조, 열수처리를 적용하였고, 광처리로는 삼나무 표면에 자외선광을 조사하였다. 열처리와 광처리에서 온도와 함수율 및 자외선의 색상차 감소효과를 평가하였다. 색상차 감소 효과는 열수처리가 가장 우수하였으며, 산소량이 적은 저기압 상태에서 건조시킴으로써 산화반응을 줄여보고자 실시한 진공건조는 기대한 바와 달리 열기건조와 비슷한 정도의 목재 표면의 색상차 감소효과를 보였다. 광처리는 건조재 표면의 색상차 감소효과를 보여 대패가공 후 마감처리에 적합한 것으로 판단된다. 추후 효과적인 삼나무 재색제어를 위해서 각 처리별 최적 공정조건 탐색 및 복합처리 적용 기술개발이 필요하다.
