연구실 소개
박형섭 교수의 연구실은 대사질환, 혈관질환 및 면역조절 관련 생물학적 메커니즘을 규명하고자 하며, 특히 인슐린 저항성과 만성 염증 반응의 조절에 기여하는 물질(예: BAIBA)의 기전을 AMPK 신호전달 경로를 중심으로 연구하고 있습니다. 또한 림프부종 모델 개발, 정맥역류 치료법(RFA)의 임상적 효과 평가, 미세순환 이상의 조기 진단 기법 개발 등 임상적 응용가능성이 높은 혈관 및 대사 관련 질환에 대한 기초 및 임상 연구를 병행하고 있습니다. 특히 신약 개발 및 치료 전략 최적화를 위한 다학제적 접근이 두드러집니다.

15We demonstrated anti-inflammatory and anti-insulin resistance effects of BAIBA in differentiated 3 T3-L1 cells treated with LPS through AMPK-dependent signaling. These results provide evidence for the beneficial effects of BAIBA not only in liver and skeletal muscle cells but also in adipose tissue.
Secondary lymphedema is an intractable disease mainly caused by damage of the lymphatic system during surgery, yet studies are limited by the lack of suitable animal models. The purpose of this study was to create an improved model of secondary lymphedema in the hindlimbs of rodents with sustained effects and able to mimic human lymphedema. RFA is an effective and safe treatment modality for incompetent SSV. Peak reflux velocity can be a risk factor for recanalization. Length of RFA segment in SSV does not affect recanalization and postablation sural neuritis.
LD could consistently detect differences in microcirculatory flow between the three study groups consisting of gradually more severe microvascular dysfunction. The Valsalva parameter was the most accurate in detecting established microvascular dysfunction, whereas PORH and LTH may have a possible role for detection of early microvascular impairment.
Overall QoL and recurrence rates were similar between the two modalities. The benefits of RFA do not seem to be enough to overcome the higher costs of HS in Korea.

Muscle-derived stem cells (MDSCs) are known to promote angiogenesis, but have never been studied in vascular diseases. We differentiated MDSCs into endothelial lineage cells in vitro by stimulation with shear stress and vascular endothelial growth factor.
