박재현 교수의 연구실은 마취 및 집중치료 분야에서 환자의 안전과 기도 관리의 최적화를 목표로 하고 있습니다. 특히 기관절개술, 기도 삽입 기법, 혈역학적 반응성 평가 및 심장보조 기구의 정확한 위치 설정에 대한 임상적 연구를 중심으로 진행되고 있으며, 어린이 및 어려운 기도 환자에서의 비침습적 기도 관리 전략 개발에 특화되어 있습니다. 다양한 마취 방법과 기구를 활용한 기도 안정성 향상 및 합병증 예방 전략에 대한 실질적인 임상 지침을 제시하고 있습니다.

The distance between endotracheal tube tip and vocal cords is directly related to the risk of exubation. Despite tracheal elongation, neck extension actually displaced the endotracheal tube tip to the vocal cords in older children.
In 16% of patients, the IABP was too close to the LSCA origin when it was placed at the aortic knob, whereas positioning the IABP at 2 cm above the carina provided an adequate position for the IABP tip (1.5-3.5 cm distal to the origin of the LSCA) in 95.3% of patients. The carina may be a more reliable landmark for positioning the IABP than the aortic knob.
We report four cases of difficult airway managed with a laryngeal mask airway (LMA) under propofol anaesthesia; this method was chosen to minimize psychological and physical trauma. Ketamine and lidocaine spray appear to be appropriate for laryngeal mask airway (LMA) insertion in children. Thus, apnea and airway obstruction, the two most serious and frequent complications of propofol, can be avoided during LMA insertion.
This method, which requires no specific instrument and no time-consuming technique, can be taught easily and may be used in a situation where the rapidity of lung isolation or collapse is the key to saving life. We conclude that this blind method can be an alternative to the FOB and/or auscultation for the positioning of DLT in an emergency situation.
