15To decipher the organizational styles of neural underpinning in major depressive disorder (MDD), the current article reviewed recent neuroimaging studies (published during 2015-2020) that applied graph theory approach to the diffusion tensor imaging data or functional brain activation data acquired during task-free resting state. The global network organization of resting-state functional connectivity network in MDD were diverse according to the onset age and medication status. Intra-modular fun
Brain structural covariance networks reflect covariation in morphology of different brain areas and are thought to reflect common trajectories in brain development and maturation. Large-scale investigation of structural covariance networks in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) may provide clues to the pathophysiology of this neurodevelopmental disorder. Using T1-weighted MRI scans acquired from 1616 individuals with OCD and 1463 healthy controls across 37 datasets participating in the ENIGMA-OC
This study showed the importance of functional communication from the left middle temporal gyrus with other opercular-insular-subcortical regions for better objective functioning and lesser subjective disability in SAD.
Verbal abuse is an emotional abuse intended to inflict intense humiliation-denigration-fear as perceived by exposed person. Network-based approaches have been applied to explore the integrative-segregated patterns of associations among the psychological features and external stimuli for diverse populations; few studies reported for verbal abuse effects in college population. Self-reporting measurements acquired form 5,616 college students were used for network analyses. Escalating cascades of ve
Although the relationship between subjective well-being (SWB) and suicidal ideation (SI) has been illustrated in previous research, few studies have conceptualized SWB as a comprehensive measure of life satisfaction in multiple domains, nor have they considered possible mediators such as depressive symptoms. Therefore, the present study aimed to identify dimensions of SWB correlated with SI, and to analyze associations among SWB sub-domains, depressive symptoms, and SI in a community population.
This study aimed to identify factors significantly associated with recent depressive mood with respect to health-related behavioral patterns at the individual level, perceived safety in the school environment, and willingness to share concerns with family and social networks. Self-reported responses to questions regarding recent feelings of depression, health-related behaviors in physical, psychological, and spiritual subdomains, school refusal and perceived safety at school, and perceived socia
Neocortical phenotype of cortical surface area (CSA) and thickness (CT) are influenced by distinctive genetic factors and undergo differential developmental trajectories, which could be captured using the individualized cortical structural covariance (ISC). Disturbed patterns of neocortical development and maturation underlie the perceptual disturbance of psychosis including auditory hallucination (AH). To demonstrate the utility of selected ISC features as primal biomarker of AH in first-episod
In AD patients, the Stroop effect depends on the functional integrity of the prefrontal cortices. Some parietotemporal regions also appear to be responsible for the Stroop effect in AD individuals.
Depression and anxiety are the most common mental disorders among physicians, who have a greater risk of suicide than those in other professional occupations. Relationships among a demanding workload, workplace violence, burnout, and intention to turnover have also been reported. The current study examined the principal components and propagating patterns of mental health and working environment interactions in training physicians. A total of 1981 training physicians completed online self-report
These network-based neural foundations for executive dysfunction in OCD could become a potential target of future treatment, which could improve global domains of functioning broader than symptomatic relief.
The present study showed the influences of FKBP5 genotype on the distorted cognitive styles in PTSD by measuring the volumetric alteration of hippocampal regions, providing a possible role of the hippocampus and left frontal operculum as significant neurobiological correlates of PTSD.
Abstract The Empathy-Enhancement Program for Medical Students (EEPMS) comprises five consecutive weekly sessions and aims to improve medical students’ empathic ability, an essential component of humanistic medical professionalism. Using a graph theory approach for the Ising network (based on l 1 -regularized logistic regression) comprising emotional regulation, empathic understanding of others’ emotion, and emotional expressivity, this study aimed to identify the central components or hubs of em
The association between health-related role limitations in the mental and physical subdomains and clinical status (i.e., chronic disease and comorbid depressive symptoms) is mediated by health-promoting behaviors. To enhance health-promoting behaviors in adults with chronic disease, it is necessary to identify item-level associations among targets of health-related monitoring and management. Therefore, the current study used a network approach to examine associations among health-related role li
