연구실 소개
최지은 교수의 연구실은 신경염증과 뇌질환 간의 연관성에 중점을 두고 있으며, 특히 간질과 발열성 경련을 비롯한 신경질환에서 면역 및 염증 반응의 기전을 규명하는 데 핵심적인 연구를 수행하고 있습니다. 뇌내 미세혈관 및 별상세포의 활성화, 프로염증세포활성화 인자 등 염증 매개물질의 역할을 분석함으로써, 신경질환의 새로운 치료 전략 개발에 기여하고 있습니다. 또한, 임상적 적용 가능성을 고려한 약물 치료 및 다학제적 환자 관리 모델 개발에도 주력하고 있습니다.

15Our results suggest that active neuroinflammation and marked cellular injury occur in pediatric epilepsy and may play a common pathogenic role or consequences in childhood epilepsy of diverse etiologies. Our findings support the concept that immunomodulation targeting activated microglia and astrocytes may be a novel therapeutic strategy to reduce neurological morbidity and prevent intractable epilepsy.

This is the first study in children demonstrating that serum α-synuclein levels were significantly increased in children with epilepsy and with acquired demyelinating disorders of the CNS and correlated with measures of disease severity. Serum IL-1β levels showed significant correlation only with drug resistance in children with epilepsy.
