15Abstract An improved cluster validity index for fuzzy clustering that is able to overcome three intrinsic drawbacks in conventional cluster validity indexes is proposed. The effectiveness of the proposed index is demonstrated by the analysis of its limiting behaviour and comparison with the performance of the Xie‐Beni index, Kwon index, and Tang index on twelve data sets.
For mobile multiprocessor applications, achieving high performance with low energy consumption is a challenging task. In order to help programmers to meet these design requirements, system development tools play an important role. In this paper, we describe one such development tool, ePRO-MP, which profiles and optimizes both performance and energy consumption of multi-threaded applications running on top of Linux for ARM11 MPCore-based embedded systems. One of the key features of ePRO-MP is tha
A Bloom filter is a simple space-efficient randomized data structure used to represent set in order to support membership queries. So it is very useful to search the wanted data from the all entries. In this paper, we analyze the probability of the false positive rate of the Bloom filter used in various applications up to now and present the revised false positive rate of Bloom filter.
A new generation of high performance programmable digital signal processors has a highly integrated parallel architecture, incorporating special purpose hardware features, on-chip memory, and multiple processors into a single chip. Such single chip multiprocessor DSPs, however, require a sophisticated performance monitoring tool to achieve maximum performance. The authors discuss the requirements and functionality of performance monitoring tools suitable for single chip multiprocessor DSPs. Spec
A necrotizing retinitis in children is a rare but vision-threatening ocular complication of chickenpox. We report a 10-year-old girl who developed chickenpox 1 month before presenting with panuveitis and necrotizing retinitis. After prompt antiviral treatment, her inflammatory signs were resolved. Early detection and treatment of varicella zoster-associated necrotizing retinitis after chickenpox can achieve good visual outcome.
The proper modelling of transmission line towers and conductors plays an essential part in the travelling-wave analysis of fast front overvoltages due to lightning surges in overhead power lines connected to Gas Insulated Substations. This paper investigates the effect of different simulation component models on the transient overvoltages produced at the entrance of the Gas Insulted Substation. A new combined tower model that takes into consideration both the bracings and the damping effect of e
MVPSIM allows highly integrated system level simulations of complex, high-speed multimedia systems. It also aids multimedia software development by providing a uniform working environment to hardware architects and algorithm developers. MediaStation 5000 designers used MVPSIM to compare different architectures, testing and refining their design with various system level scenarios. MVPSIM can detect system modeling and design errors and provide accurate performance estimates of multimedia systems
Korean Folk Village was founded in 1974 as the first open-air museum in Korea. It consists of over one hundred traditional Korean houses and buildings. Most of structures in the Village were reproduced or newly constructed in traditional style. Some houses were used as craft shop and folklore performance. Preservation of vernacular architecture by the government began in the late 1960s in Korea. The development of the Village was initiated by the central government for the sake of attracting bot
This paper reviews how Williamsburg, a historic town in Virginia, U.S.A, acquired the status of a national heritage site. Williamsburg was the capital of the colony of Virginia in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The early twentieth century witnessed a boom in commemorating Colonial sites in the U.S. For 150 years, the Williamsburg site had remained an ordinary local town, but it was restored during the 1920s to create a place where the nation′s history could be illustrated. The prevail
